Fredrickson Front Loading Electric Kilns

Construction

The kiln frame is built with welded 1/4″ thick angle iron. The walls are painted , 16 gauge thick steel. The hinges are huge, ensuring easy movement of the door. The walls are a combination of insulating firebrick and block insulation for a total wall thickness of 7 inches. The arch is backed up by castable insulation for added insulation and stability. The elements are massive for extra long life. There is an element in the floor to ensure even firings.

Controls

The Fredrickson kilns employ a Bartleft 3 zone controller which will fire the kiln evenly time after time. There is also an optional Watlow high limit shut off device. The Watlow will shut the kiln off at a pre-set temperature in the unlikely event that the controller has a malfunction. The control panel is fan cooled to ensure safety and long life of the components.

Safety System

There is a main power switch operated with a key to prevent accidental or unauthorized use of the kiln. In addition a door safety switch will shut down all power if the kiln door is opened during a firing.

Shuttle kilns

Fredrickson kilns also produce one or two car shuttle kilns. They are especially useful for commercial or sculptural applications
